High speed is natural and attracts fish
All pelagic speedsters hunt and feed on smaller speedy pelagic fish. Pelagic gamefish species are built for high speed to feed and to survive.
High speed triggers the bite
Lures that are trolled at higher speeds get bit more often by wahoo than slower trolled lures, because high speed is natural. HST lures tend to catch XL size wahoo.
Deep running lures are easier to see and reach, attracting fish
Deep running lures are easier for fish to see, as they are running below and out of the white water created by the boat. They are also in the fish's comfort zone, and also easier to reach for fish that swim deep.
